Where We Live: One Dollar for Tourism
For a state oozing with history, tourism seems like a natural money maker

For a state oozing with history, flooded with natural resources, and desperate for dollars, tourism seems like a natural money maker.
But, as they say – you have to spend money to make money. And Connecticut has invested NO money in tourism promotion this budget cycle. Well, that’s not entirely true - the budget is $1.
So, how does Connecticut tap into the economic boom that tourism brings without a budget to do it? How are our neighboring states competing? And, what’s the state of the tourism industry during this long, hot, recession summer of 2010?
Today Where We Live, officials from CT, and New York join us – as well as an expert on the economics of selling a state. And we want to hear from you. How would you spend the one dollar state tourism budget? What’s your campaign?
We’ll also revisit a conversation with historian William Hosley – he thinks our “sense of place” should be our big selling point.
