Where We Live: Smart Sprawl?

By 2050, The United States will be home to 100 million new residents. Most of them will live in the suburbs.  As census forms roll in and an updated picture of America emerges, so too will an updated picture of suburbia. Beyond cul-de-sacs and mcmansions, there exists a persistent and flourishing form of American life, one that represents an economic and political force that some say will define life in the 21st Century.

Today, where we live, we'll ask what the suburb of the future will look like. Is density really the most realistic answer to the transportation and development problems facing our country? Or is the solution somewhere on the edges of urban life? Is there such a thing as “smart sprawl?”
