Where We Vote: William Tong
Do you have Tong Fever?

What do you get when a little-known candidate raises more than a half-million dollars in the first months of a run for Senate? Could it be “tong fever"?
Well, at least that’s what Colin McEnroe called it. The condition is named after William Tong, who in 2006, became the first Asian American elected to a state office in Connecticut.
The State Representative has advocated for new energy legislation in Hartford, and on behalf of small businesses. But short of his interesting personal story, and his early support for now President Barack Obama, very few people thought he’d be able to make a serious run for Joe Lieberman’s Senate Seat.
But his early fundraising success puts him in a race with Congressman Chris Murphy and former secretary of State Susan Bysiewicz.
Today we talk to state Representative William Tong, and give you a chance to ask questions of the candidate.

William Tong is for real
Representative Tong was elected to the legislature from one of the most solid Republican towns, New Canaan, in the state. First beating Mike Fedele, and then winning re-election, the last time without opposition. He has served the district and state well and earned his co-chairmanship of the banking committee. W@hile most politicians are announcing that they are'nt running again, William is asking to take on the big boys in Washington.

William is a real person and the best kind of politician - he visited our house during the last election campaign - we are the LAST house on a dead end street - he listened as a member of our community and gave us answers - not political speak - he will make an EXCELLENT Senator for Connecticut and we are willing to work to make that happen.
