Governor Malloy and Dan Esty Lay Out Their New Energy Strategy

With his new energy plan unveiled last week, Governor Dannel Malloy is trying to explode an old stereotype.

"It used to be that you could only be pro-business or pro-environment. Let me say clearly that I reject that as a false choice," said Malloy during the unveiling.

Malloy’s plan is ambitious and wants to increase the state's natural gas usage by more than 250,000 households. It also aims to lower energy bills and increase efficiency.

He says this isn’t a case of picking winners, in this case natural gas, but instead one of giving consumers choice.  His Commisioner of Energy and Environment Dan Esty has talked about gas being a bridge to greater use of renewables down the road.

But with the plan comes many questions about the cost and about the fuel itself.  Today, we’ll ask these questions of the governor and the commissioner and you can too.
