Movies For Your Ears
Jonathan Mitchell produces the radio drama podcast "The Truth"
Radio Drama is associated with a so-called “Golden Age” of radio in the 30s and 40s, before TV became the dominant medium. Today, Garrison Keillor’s “A Prairie Home Companion” is the best known program still presenting this traditional style.
But Jonathan Mitchell does things a bit differently. He creates what he calls “Movies for your ears” - heavily sound-designed, occasionally improvisational, often experimental. He’s part of a new kind of “golden age” of radio presenting his work on Radiolab, This American Life and Studio 360. His podcast - The Truth - is presented by American Public Media, and he’s bringing his radio storytelling to Quinnipiac University today at 2pm in a talk at the student center.
