Roz Savage: The Environmentalist Who Rows Across Oceans
The Yale World Fellow stopped by to share her story.
Have you ever wanted to make a big change in your life and go on a big adventure? You know, try something where you could push yourself?
Well Roz Savage did that - but the challenge she took on was bigger than most of us could even imagine. She became the first woman to row - solo - across the world’s major oceans.
But she’s not just doing this for herself...she’s doing it for a bigger purpose: To raise awareness about global sustainability and climate change. She’s a United Nations Climate Hero, an Athlete Ambassador for 350.org, a Fellow of the Royal Geographical Society, and a Yale World Fellow - a program we’ll profile later.
Savage spoke last night at Northwest Community College in Winsted. Her lecture was part of the Rose B. Nader Circle for the Agitation of the Caring Mind.
