Faith Middleton Show: Wannabees

The Wannabees is a club for kids and family members started a year ago to teach children to be beekeepers.  they manage a hive on the Aspetuck Land Trust property in Easton off Rt. 58 near the Apple Barn.

The children who do this range in age from 7 to 15 years old; some casual junior beekeepers, others who might be destined for a science career.  right now there are 10 kids in The Wannabees club.

If you'd like to know more about the Fairfield county Wannabees, check it out online at Backyard Beekeepers.com - you'll see Wannabees.

Wannabees instructors Bob Krietler and Becky Newman talked with us on the show.  They are members of the Backyard Beekeepers Association, with 400 adult members in Connecticut, one of the largest in the nation.

Bob, by day runs Kreitler Financial in New Haven.

Becky Newman, by day is program coordinator of the Nature Discovery Center in Westport, Connecticut.
