Faith Middleton Show: Turning Bad News Into Something Positive
lessons in courage and healing
Roxanne Black was diagnosed with Lupus at the young age of fifteen. Lupus is a chronic inflammatory disease that can attack the vital organs of the body. Her life as a teenager, going out with friends, and competing on the crew team, changed forever. She yearned to connect firsthand with others who knew what she was experiencing and understood her confusion and fear. Since there was no such organization...she started one.
From her hospital bedroom in New Jersey, she founded a nationwide community that brought together people with similar conditions to support each other. This community, started on index cards and hand written notes, became the international non-profit organization, Friends Health Connection. In its twentieth year, Friends has connected thousands of patients and provided motivational programs to hundreds of hospitals and patient groups.
Roxanne tells her story in this book, Unexpected Blessings. She lives with her husband in New Jersey.
