Where We Live: Acoustic Bicycle Tour

Despite social networking sites like Facebook, Myspace, and Twitter, some argue that today’s world is more disconnected than ever.

So, what to do about this disconnect?  Today we’ll talk to a musician who is trying to make deeper connections with the world around him.

Jazz musician Taylor Ho Bynum connects with nature by getting out on his bicycle.  Now, he’s combining his music and his cycling into the “Acoustic Bicycle Tour.”  It will take him and his pocket cornet to venues around New England.

He kicks off his two-week, 1,000 mile tour tonight at Firehouse 12 in New Haven.  On this ride, he’ll hook up with fellow musicians and ensembles in venues ranging from state parks to art galleries to concert halls.

See Bynum this weekend:

We are honored to culminate Taylor's bicycle tour with a duo concert with jazz icon Anthony Braxton at UMass on Sept. 22. Here's hoping Taylor's lips and legs hold out!
